Vatican launches LUCIFER Telescope

A new instrument with an evil-sounding name is helping scientists see how stars are born. Lucifer, which stands for (deep breath) “Large Binocular Telescope Near-infrared Utility with Camera and Integral Field Unit for Extragalactic Research,” is a chilled instrument attached to a telescope in Arizona. And yes, it’s named for the Devil, whose name itself means “morning star.” But it wasn’t meant to evoke him, according to a spokesman for the University of Arizona, where it is housed.

Lucifer is part of the Large Binocular Telescope, which happens to be right next to the Vatican Observatory on Mt. Graham in Tucson. That’s right, the Vatican has an observatory in Arizona, manned by Jesuit astronomers. Now its next-door neighbor is named for the Devil.

Used to have such a crush on her

“Remember Anna Chlumsky from the movie My Girl? Well, she’s 29 years-old now and I must say, bravo, Anna, bravo. I always knew Vada had potential but seeing her here dropping some major cleavage on us at the New York opening of something called Promises, Promises is a nice surprise. So many of these kid stars who we think are going to turn to be babes disappoint, but Anna appears to have put in the work (or something) to fulfill the promise we saw in her back in 1991.”

5 Dubious Sexual Accomplishments

We all know someone who likes to brag about their sexual achievements. Everyone exaggerates of course; that cute girl your friend talked to at the bar for a bit will actually be twin Swedish supermodels he took back to his place for a night of debauchery when he’s telling the story. But once and awhile you meet someone whose accomplishments are actually worth bragging about, and that’s cool. Unfortunately, it turns out that there’s a fine line between sexual achievements that are worth celebrating and ones that are just disturbing.

Miley Cyrus Might do a Nude Scene

Miley Cyrus is growing up and growing up fast. The 17 year old actress recently stopped doing her show Hanna Montana and is about to release an edgy film with Demi Moore, but what about nudity? Miley is not going to shy away from stripping off her clothes for the camera and the big screen. When asked about doing a film where she shows the world her body she said “It depends what the film is. If it’s something that’s classy – it just depends on the circumstances”
