The Book Tank

Raul Lemesoff converted a 1979 Ford Falcon into an awesome open-air tank bookmobile. He drives around Buenos Aires offering books to anyone who wants them. The Weapon of Mass Instruction, as Lemesoff calls it, promotes “peace through literature.” Lemesoff has already driven it to remote regions of Argentina and hopes to expand the project into other nations.

Old Book Art provides and facilitates access to free illustrations: pictures, drawings, maps and other images scanned from antiquarian, public-domain books and other old documents. They have over 4,700 images in their gallery with more added regularly, all at no cost and most available at very high resolution.

It’s not every day you get to witness your best friend’s head being ripped off at the shoulders, but then again, you don’t always have a two-thousand year old bloodthirsty goddess of war stalking you around the back yard either. Anthropodermic Bibliopegy, or The Truth About Books Bound In Human Skin

Rare old books are occasionally bound in human skin, including nipples, and even the face of a Guy Fawkes conspirator. Antiquarians have discovered these grisly leather covers on prayer books, astronomy treatises, court cases, and anatomy texts — all written in the past three to four hundred years.
