Human pillars
Tales of “human pillars” (hitobashira) — people who were deliberately buried alive inside large-scale construction projects — have circulated in Japan since ancient times. Most often associated with castles, levees and bridges, these old legends are based on ancient beliefs that a more stable and durable structure could be achieved by sealing people inside the walls or foundation as an offering to the gods.
Creepy Newborn Baby Dolls

“It looks so realistic that you would almost expect it to start crying. But it won’t, of course, because it is in fact a hyper-realistic doll based on a newborn baby. Artist Glenda Ewart creates replicas for parents who want a permanent reminder of how their children looked when they were born. Others are sold around the world to collectors and even are put in nurseries or taken for walks in prams. Bat Boy, where are you when we need you most?
Weekly World News is no longer on the newsstands, and it’s not just because it failed to qualify as “news”. Sadly, the weekly rag ceased publication years ago, and was perhaps best known for its breathless headlines of impending mayhem (“900 Doomsday Asteroids Hurtling Towards Earth!“), the frequent appearance of the truly freaky-looking Bat Boy (or his cuter cousin Poodle Boy), and pretty much weekly photos of either Heaven, Hell, or angels.
You can revisit it all at Google Books’ Weekly World News archives going back to 1985, lovingly scanned for your perusal.
