This artist’s illustration gives an impression of how common planets are around the stars in the Milky Way. The planets, their orbits and their host stars are all vastly magnified compared to their real separations. A six-year search that surveyed millions of stars using the microlensing technique concluded that planets around stars are the rule rather than the exception. The average number of planets per star is greater than one. This means that there is likely to be a minimum of 1,500 planets within just 50 light-years of Earth.

Self-described “some kind of artist” Ben Campbell needed a centerpiece for his art show on the link between ancient Egypt and modern society, so he set out to craft a life-size mummy using about $200 worth of food he purchased at McDonald’s.

Art is a beauty while war is a duty. For war gives a shrewd excuse for destruction, while on the other hand, art helps in prevailing sanity with its creative and comforting power. If men can create terrifying weapons, one can really imagine man’s intelligence to make a creative use of destructive weapons. Weapons cannot beget aesthetics, or can they? Can something that is made to draw life become the life of your living room? Have a look at “Warcraft” being turned into “Handicraft.”

Despite having no real interest or desire to express himself creatively in his waking life, artist Lee Hadwin has a natural talent for producing fairly interesting works of art in his sleep.
